Civility Squad Making District-Wide Difference
One initiative that spread positive change throughout the Sarasota County School District last year was the Civility Squad. Teachers and administrators say the characters lived up to their motto: Saving our (school) community one good deed at a time!
Gulf Coast Awards Over $537,000 in Scholarships
Gulf Coast Community Foundation has awarded over half-a-million dollars in scholarships to hundreds of local students for the 2019-20 academic year. More than $215,000 was awarded from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation Scholarship Fund, an endowment established by the foundation’s Board in 1997 to help local students pursue meaningful higher education.
Venice Siblings Engineering Bright Futures
Brothers Trevor and Connor Poole are Venice natives and Venice High School graduates. Both are also students in the Gator Engineering @ SCF program. Trevor was a part of the inaugural class accepted into the program in 2017. His younger brother, Connor, just graduated from Venice High and will be in the program’s third cohort this fall.
