Supporting the People of Ukraine

In Times of Evil, Philanthropy Offers Hope

At Gulf Coast, we care deeply for Ukrainian families who have been displaced, injured and lost loved ones.  And we are also closely monitoring the financial challenges suffered by our local working poor families who were already stressed before the war began.

The organizations listed below represent some of the most capable service organizations that can provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine no matter where they have sought refuge. As conditions change, we will keep you updated so that your impact will reach those who need help the most.

Additionally, Gulf Coast is supporting RADD for Ukraine as the philanthropic steward. Powered by DreamLarge, this fundraiser, supply drive, and block party will bring our community together to support the people of Ukraine.

Americares

Americares has an emergency response team on the way to Poland to support health services for families affected by the escalating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The team, which is headed to Krakow, has expertise in coordinating large-scale shipments of medicine and relief supplies and mobilizing emergency medical teams in crisis situations. Americares has 3 tons of critical medicine and medical supplies on the way to an organization working inside Ukraine, for hospitals and responders there.

CARE

A humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding in Ukraine as attacks of war put millions of lives at risk. Innocent families, women and girls, and the elderly will suffer most. CARE’s immediate crisis response aims to reach 4 million with your help.

Doctors without Borders

MSF has a longstanding presence in Ukraine, including in regions of eastern Ukraine that have been affected by armed conflict since 2014. We have now had to halt normal activities in Ukraine and mobilize to launch emergency operations. We have teams in Ukraine, Poland, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, Russia, and Belarus. MSF is an independent and impartial organization committed to providing medical humanitarian assistance to people affected by the war no matter who they are or where they are.

NOVA UKRAINE

Established in 2014, Nova Ukraine is one of the few US nonprofits operating in multiple regions of Ukraine. Since Feb 24th 2022, we have raised over $3.5 million in donations across various platforms. The generous donations are being used to deliver emergency aid to people remaining in Ukraine, as well as refugees. As of now, 1 million people have fled Ukraine into Poland and other neighboring countries.

Project HOPE

What was already a severe humanitarian crisis before has become exponentially worse. More than a million children and families have already fled Ukraine to neighboring countries — this number could quickly grow to 5 million. In Poland, Romania, Moldova and within Ukraine, Project HOPE emergency teams are delivering essential medicines like insulin and other relief for refugees and the displaced.

UNICEF

The war in Ukraine poses an immediate and growing threat to the lives and well-being of the country’s 7.5 million children. Humanitarian needs are multiplying by the hour as fighting intensifies. Children have been killed. Children have been wounded. More than a million refugees have been forced to flee Ukraine seeking safety and protection. Hundreds of thousands of them are children.

World Central Kitchen

WCK is first to the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. They have served one million meals to families in Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Moldova, and Hungary.
