Shining a Spotlight on Programs Here4YOUth

In 2019 the Charles and Margery Barancik Foundation and Gulf Coast commissioned a year-long research scan by the University of South Florida to identify gaps in Sarasota’s mental health system of care for children and youth and uncover unmet needs in our region. Shortly after, the joint Here4YOUth mental health initiative was born--with intentions of increasing high-quality services and supports, and making them available to all Sarasota children and youth to improve their mental health resources.

An arm of Here4YOUth, called Shine a Spotlight was created to highlight and recognize outstanding programs in our community that help youth under age 25 and their families to thrive. This community-nominated video series ‘shines a spotlight’ on services and organizations celebrated and endorsed by youth and the community, and aims to reduce the stigma of seeking mental health care.

Episode 1: Teen Court of Sarasota

Episode 2: Tidewell Foundation

Episode 3: National Alliance on Mental Illness

Episode 4: Coming Soon March 2021

The programs can be nominated here at any time by service users (or their families) and program volunteers. Help us celebrate the local organizations striving to support our youth in these times of heightened-need. Check this page or our Youtube page for the latest videos.
