Reading Recovery Council Announces National Award for Gulf Coast’s Brady

The Reading Recovery Council of North America (RRCNA) last week officially announced that Veronica Brady, senior vice president for philanthropy at Gulf Coast, is one of three leaders who will be recognized next month with the 2018 Excellence in Literacy Leadership Award.

Each year, Reading Recovery teacher leaders from across the country nominate individuals to receive this prestigious award. Recipients, who are not trained in Reading Recovery, have displayed a strong commitment to expand and maintain its high standards and made significant contributions to implementation beyond the local level.

Gulf Coast joined with Sarasota County Schools administrators and teachers and several of our donors late last year to surprise Veronica with the notification that she would be honored. Now, a month before the award’s presentation at the nation’s premier K-6 literacy conference, RRCNA has released its official announcement that Veronica and two other deserving leaders—one from Washington, DC, and one from Maine—will be this year’s honorees.

The nominating teacher leaders will present the award at the February 18 opening session of the 2018 National Reading Recovery & K-6 Literacy Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
