Eligibility
How do I know if I am eligible for a grant from Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice? We make most of our grants to federally tax-exempt nonprofit organizations classified as 501(c) (3); public charities as defined by the Internal Revenue Service. We also make some grants to governmental agencies. The Foundation’s responsive grants are made to organizations that benefit the residents of southern Sarasota County, all of Englewood/Cape Haze, Boca Grande, and environs. For additional eligibility information, please view Grantmaking Guidelines and Principles – The Venice Endowment.
How can I get money from Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice if I have a personal dire need? The Foundation does not make grants or loans to individuals. As a community foundation, we serve charitable needs addressed by federally tax-exempt organizations.
Can I receive a grant from a donor advised fund? Advisors to donor-advised funds held at the Foundation recommend grants to nonprofit organizations based on their areas of interest. Individual organizations are not able to directly request support from these funds.

Applying for a Grant

Click on Initiatives to learn more about the Foundation’s work here.
How do I apply for a grant? The Foundation accepts responsive grant applications for both program and capital projects according to its Grantmaking Calendar, which has several deadlines throughout the year. Can anyone at Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice help me write a grant? We do not offer individual assistance with grant writing. However, for projects that will bring funds to our region from government, regional, or national funders, we offer the Grantwriter Assistance Fund. Locally, the Nonprofit Resource Center also offers workshops on grant writing, among other services.
