Introduction
Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice's Strategic Grantmaking in Education initiative was created in 2001 as a framework of resources for schools to implement new instructional approaches that produce improved teacher skills, influence high student achievement and graduation rates, and create successful student transitions from kindergarten through high school.
SGE Feeder Pattern initiative grants seek to support schools gathered together in a feeder pattern to identify, align and teach the essential skills and concepts that students need to successfully transition from elementary to middle to high school and beyond. It is also essential that feeder pattern work be clearly connected to the district’s goals for schools and align with each school's comprehensive strategic plan and direction.
Public and non-public schools (with average of 100 students enrolled) that serve K-12 students who reside in Gulf Coast Community Foundation’s primary service area are eligible to participate in the initiative. Schools serving grades 9-12 must be accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Foundation plans to award SGE Feeder Pattern initiative grants on an annual basis through the 2008-09 school year. Requests will be considered subject to the SGE Feeder Pattern Guidelines and Grant Request document. All SGE Feeder Pattern grants will be made for a single year and may be continued in future years, subject to a successful annual project Demonstration of Progress review.
