Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice's scholarship program is a valuable resource for students of all ages who are pursuing postsecondary education. In 2007, the Foundation awarded over $430,000 in scholarships to more than 200 deserving local students for the 2007-08 academic year.
Scholarship applications for the 2008-09 school year are now available. To apply for a Foundation scholarship, you must be a graduate of a high school in or a permanent legal resident of southern Sarasota County or western Charlotte County (Osprey, Laurel, Nokomis, Venice, Englewood, North Port, or Boca Grande); demonstrate clear financial need; maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5; and be accepted to or enrolled full-time at a regionally accredited institution of postsecondary education. Complete eligibility requirements are listed below as well as on each individual scholarship application.

Please read all instructions before completing the application. In order to be considered for a Foundation scholarship, you must submit a completed, typed, and signed application (including all items listed on the checklist on page 5 of the application) to the Foundation by 4 p.m. on the assigned deadline date. Your scholarship application must be hand-delivered to the Foundation office. Mailed applications and electronic transmissions will not be accepted.

2. Clicking on the application link will open up a Microsoft Word form for you to fill out. Please fill in the gray areas starting with your first and last name on the top of the first page of the application.
3. When you have completed all five pages of the application, print it out and sign it. Bring the application, along with all required documents, to the Foundation. Applications must be hand delivered.

Clear financial need, demonstrating that additional funds are needed to attend college.

Student must be accepted to (or already attending in good standing) a regionally accredited post-secondary education institution on a full-time (12 hours undergraduate or 6 hours graduate) basis (unless otherwise stated) in a degree-seeking program.

Student must attend or plan to attend a 2-year or 4-year institution, vocational, or graduate school.

A minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale or equivalent is required (unless otherwise stated.)

The student must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. national, or hold an I-151, I-551, or I551C Alien Registration Card proving U.S. permanent residency.

The applicant must be a permanent legal resident of, or graduate of a high school in, southern Sarasota County or western Charlotte County (Osprey, Laurel, Nokomis, Venice, Englewood, North Port, or Boca Grande).
