Local Investment Management Services

Donors establishing funds at Gulf Coast Community Foundation of Venice may do so through their local financial advisor. Their advisor can then continue to manage the assets referred to the Foundation, while following the Foundation's investment policy guidelines.

Primary Investment Goals

The goal of the Investment Policy is to preserve the portfolio's capital and maximize investment earnings in excess of inflation within acceptable levels of capital market volatility. This objective will be achieved through a sound investment strategy considering the critical need to maintain a long-term time horizon when making investment decisions while being sensitive to the portfolio's spending requirements.

Spending Policy

The purpose of the Foundation is to provide a perpetual source of income to various organizations in the communities we serve.  The Foundation's spending policy has been designed with three objectives in mind:
  1. Provide a predictable, stable stream of revenue;
  2. Ensure that the purchasing power or real value of this revenue stream does not decline over time; and
  3. Ensure that the purchasing power or real value of the Endowment's assets grows over time.
The Foundation/Endowment has established a long-term spending rate cap of four percent of the average of the 12 quarters of the Endowment's market value.  The Investment Committee will examine the policy year-to-year to make sure it is meeting the requirements of the Foundation.

Donor advised funds do not necessarily need to follow the above-referenced spending policy. The fund may make distributions from principal, even to exhaustion.

Asset Allocation

The committee, with the help of its consultant(s), shall determine the strategic long-term asset allocation strategy. The committee will manage the asset allocation mix as determined by the asset allocation ranges and this Investment Policy.

To implement this strategy, the committee will implement an asset allocation discipline that will diversify investments among asset classes and that is designed to meet the rate of return objective over a complete market cycle.

The asset allocation mix utilized by the committee will fall under the following ranges:

Asset Class Strategic Target Allocation Range
Domestic Equity 50% 40% - 60%
International Equity 20% 15% - 25%
Fixed Income 20% 10% - 30%
Alternative Investments 10% 0% - 10%
Cash 0% 0% - 5%
Total 100% --
